19th Century. Paris, Montmartre. Christian, a young English poet, goes to Paris and meets Satine, a courtesan at the Moulin Rouge. They fall in love and hide their relationship while working on a play that will be presented in the Moulin Rouge as a theatre. The Duke gives the money for the transformation on one condition, to have exclusivity over Satine. Zidler, the owner, and the bohemian artists that join him, work for the ideal of having the play finished. The lovers are discovered and put in danger both the play’s ending and their love, however a stronger force takes one of them and put and end to the romance.
